In 2017 after performing the exploration of water layers in the Trakai city waterhole, it was found that the underground water from the upper Silurian layer is characterized by a stable and unique chemical composition of low mineralization. The water extracted from the well is naturally clean, there are no signs of local anthropogenic (microbial and chemical) pollution. The water has a low concentration of total iron of natural origin (0.12-0.14 mg/l), and the water itself is suitable for a “reduced sodium diet“ due to its low mineralization.
In 2023 a natural mineral water pump-room (“buvette“) is built next to the well, inviting you to drink the pure gifts of the Varnikai forests. The author of the project is architect Marija Vasiulytė, the project is financed by the municipality of Trakai district.
Next to the natural mineral water buvette is a Chapel of Our Lady of Trakai – Patroness of Lithuania. The original painting adorns the Trakai St. The Great Altar of the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary.
